Why Every YouTube Video is a VSL

Video sales letters are the foundation of a script.

We are constantly selling the prospect on a set of beliefs/products in some cases.

It is hence important to understand what a VSL is, and therefore how to write it.

A VSL is a video that is meant to completely convince a prospect to buy by the end of it.

Compared to traditional VSLs which can be commonly found on landing pages, YouTube VSLs are a little different.

It needs to be adaptive to what viewers are used to on YouTube.

Therefore instead of it being a sell-fest with direct response copywriting, you need to incorporate elements of storytelling and screenwriting to make it an informative and entertaining piece.

At the end of the day, YouTube videos are just VSLs or Lead Generation Videos for the top of funnel.

You are selling the prospects on a set of beliefs by the end of the video.

For example, in my video on How to Script a Viral YouTube Video, I am trying to sell the viewers on these beliefs:

• You need an engaging hook

• You want to structure the content before recording

• You need a compelling Call-To-Action

By the end of the video, they would immediately know the importance of executing on the information.

And if they are within my ideal customer profile, they would try to script it on their own, find it difficult or frustrating, and then book a call for my scriptwriting service.

The same is applied for every niche in the business space.

We want them to hold a certain set of beliefs, so that when you get on a sales call with them, it becomes 10x easier to close.
