I Hate YouTube Growth Content

Every freaking YouTube advice video on YouTube says the exact same thing.

And if you think that’s a crazy accusation, go to your top 3 favourite YouTube growth channels, watch their top 5 most popular videos, and you’ll immediately see the obvious overlaps.

Everyone positions their content as the “next big thing”, or advice that ‘no one else has told you before’.

And we, as an audience, end up going on a threadmill, watching video after video on how to grow on YouTube, while never actually growing on YouTube.

When I first started out on YouTube, I ran a channel talking about Twitter ghostwriting.

This was back when I had a ghostwriting agency.

Privated videos on my old channel

And I’d watch video after video, absorbing everything that I wanted to learn about YouTube.

Ideation, thumbnails, editing, scripting and everything in between.

At first it was exhilarating.

I was learning tons of new pieces of information and I took notes on everything.

But at some point, the advice became more reminders, more so than actionable pieces of advice that I could act on.

And no matter how many videos I watched, I wasn’t posting consistently enough for me to see tangible results.

That’s when I realised that eventually, we have to sit down and actually grow our YouTube channels, rather than mentally masturbate to the thought of having a big channel.

This is a sentiment shared amongst my closest friends on YouTube.

So that’s why I made a video on YouTube advice that no one else is talking about.

This is a video that I would’ve liked to watch 2 years ago, so I figure you might like it.

Watch it here.

Hope this helps,

Bryan

P.S. I’m back in Singapore now. Another day in paradise.

Grind time.
